Crazy Monkey CM1 & CM2

CM1
Part 1: CM Game Fight Spirals
In crazy monkey defense there are three micro games.
CM1 Game - Outside Game
CM2 Game - Midline Game
CM3 Game - Close Game

Think of the games as fluid, moving in and out of the three ranges.

The goal is to understand the strategy and tactics to use at each of the three ranges.

Part 2: Intro To CM1 Game
The CM1 game is the outside game.

The long range weapons in this game include the jab, cross, long range hook, long range uppercut, overhand, jab to the body and cross to the body.

There are three stages to the CM1 game
Stage 1: Holding the rim
Stage 2: Engaging from the rim
Stage 3: Returning to the rim

Part 3: CM's Hunchback Stance
Stance
-Back heel raised. More spring in movement
-Rodney also slightly raises front foot.
-Slightly bent knees.
-Pull stomach in and roll shoulders forward.
-Elbows down to protect side of body
-Lift shoulders, drop chin. To protect chin and make neck and head less mobile.
-Stance is mostly squared.
-Feet a little bit wider than shoulders.

Part 4: Holding The Rim
-Holding the Rim - Just out of range of the jab. Just touching glove.
-Using the jab to judge the distance. Just touching the grove means your one step away from being able to hitting opp., aka engaging the rim.
-Though generally opp. right hand strike will be blocked with your left arm and opp. left  hand will be blocked with your right arm, either arm can actually be used against either jab or cross.
-Continuously move, circling left and right in unpredictable ways.
-My thoughts: develops understanding of distance. Train covers safely.

Part 5: Engaging The Rim
-Taking the step to actually be able to hit your opponent.
-Don't wing elbow when throwing jab or cross.
-Teaches to follow up hooks, uppercuts with straight punches.
-Whenever going to the body follow up with shot to the head.
-Bends and leans when throwing the jab. Bends when throwing the cross.
-Generally start engagement with a straight shots (less openings, longer weapons)

Part 6: Defending Secondary Core Strikes
CM1 Defense
-Defending against jab and cross. Using the area of the forearm from the pinky down to the elbow to cover the front of the face.
-Defending against hooks. Pull your hand back toward the back of your head. This makes a cover which protects more the side of the head.
-Defending against uppercut. Turning guard in to block punch with forearm.
-Defending against jab or cross to body. Drop down slightly and parry with forearms.
-Don't turn away when defending.
-Keep hands moving.
-Progressive stress inoculation.

Part 7: Returning To Rim Safely
-Don't drop your hands when backing out.
-Don't be inactive while still in range.
-Use a safety jab (jabbing out) when backing out. This keeps opp. in a defensive mode while you are returning to the rim. -

Part 8: Bringing It Together
-You and partner touch gloves and get in outside range. Get in hunchback position. Start testing with jab. Engage, throw your long range combos. Return to the rim. You defend the long range shots while also using footwork to keep things at outside range.

Part 9: The 4-Drivers
Driver 1 - Balance
Driver 2 - Defense
Driver 3 - Tight Economical Structure (not swing for the fences)
Driver 4 - Cardio

CM2
Part 1: Taking The Fight To The Opponent
-Spiral from front foot moving out.

Part 2: Intro To The CM2 Game
-CM2 Defense/Entry is essentially a stepping forward weave with the CM1 defense.
-Difference between CM1 and CM2 - CM1 is tit for tat. He punches. Then I punch. CM2 introduces counter attack or engaging while the opp. is punching.

Part 3: The Rock and Roll
-the counter punch is a hybrid between a straight punch and an overhand.
-weave to the left, counter with the left hand. Weave to the right, counter with the right hand.

Part 4: CM2 Safety
-Use safety jab to exit.
-Don't always exit in the same direction.

Part 5: CM2 CQ
-When you go to the body, follow up to the head.
-Discussion of hooks and uppercuts

Part 6: CM2 Bringing It Together
-

Part 7: CM2 Examples
